TBD-I has been steadily growing during the past decade, providing services to a broad range of clients on issues related to tick biology, tick-borne diseases of medical and veterinary importance, and the identification of pathogens transmitted by ticks to both humans and animals.

Our current focus is on developing acaricide-resistance bioassays, in vitro tick-feeding bioassays, and assays for detecting tick-borne pathogens.


Prof. Frans Jongejan CEO

Frans Jongejan is a veterinary parasitologist and former director of the Utrecht Centre for Tick-borne Diseases (UCTD) at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He holds an extraordinary professorship at the Faculty of Veterinary Science in the Department of Veterinary Tropical Diseases of the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

He is the CEO of TBD-I, providing expert consultations on ticks and tick-borne diseases of veterinary and medical importance to government agencies (FAO), academic and contract research organisations and the pharmaceutical industry. TBD-I is expanding to meet the increasing demand for innovative tick control methods for companion animals, livestock, and humans, improving animal and human health worldwide.
